The textile workshop "Yuulee" or "House of bamboo" in zapotec dialect was founded in 1987 by the Juarez Family. The workshop showcases Mexico’s rich traditional textiles in Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca.

The family has shared their work generously with visitors and provide a unique look into the pre hispanic world of Oaxana textile.

Yuulee specalizes in rugs and tapestries made using only natural dyes like the cochineal, indigo, pomegrant, and marigold.

The most impornat source of natural dye comes from the fine cochinilla insect. The cochinilla was prized in the in acient times and was believed to be sacred among the Zapotecas. There are over 200 differnt shades of red produced through the traditional dying process.
